What is a Design Day?
These are bespoke programmes, devised to order by Design Education CIC for schools or colleges, and there is no common format.
Sometimes a Design Day has meant providing a group of designer/makers to deliver master classes to students and lecturers at Further Education Colleges; at other times it has involved DECIC providing a D&T teacher for a day to run a Design & Make project in a Primary school, finishing off with a short CPD session for the school’s own teachers.
Who is involved?
We have delivered Design Days to pupils from Nursery right up to College students. We work with whole schools or individual year groups and offer CPD Training to your teachers as part of the process. It’s fun!
We have recently re-designed Hammersmith with a group of Y6 pupils, made shoes with an entire Primary School and created a 3D city with Y5s.
We have lots of ready made schemes involving everything from woodwork to weaving. We are happy to come and see you and let you know what we can do for your school. Do get in touch – we’d love to hear what how you teach D&T in your school and see if we can help.
When is our next Design Day?
We have lots planned with our current schools for this academic year but have the scope to work with a few more too. We’ll be happy to fit you in!
